The opportunity to get away with my wife to spend time with God was phenomenal. We were able to stop, be still, and come to Christ with our burdens. He truly met us in this place! The natural beauty, quiet teaching, and hosts were all amazing. We were blessed to be here for a week! I look forward to putting into place the truths and grace we learned. Our time spent in silence and solitude during the prayer walk was incredibly formative. Spending time in God’s beautiful creation is so life giving. No wonder I feel revived after time in the shadow of Pikes Peak.

This week at SonScape was a tremendous blessing, and I don’t believe the full impact of it is fully visible yet. We came into the week feeling tired and hurting from a source of ongoing grief in our life. Though that pain is still there, we have learned so many valuable tools and skills to help us live and thrive in spite of the pain. We had some idea of our lack of healthy boundaries and rest in our life, but we now see that we need to make some crucial changes in our lives and schedules if we want to serve long-term. We learned that regular rest is essential, not optional, in ministry. We are leaving this week wanting to make changes that will impact us, our families, and our church. The personal time with retreat leaders was especially a blessing to us as individuals and our marriage. To have the opportunity to have godly, wise evaluation and counsel was huge for us. I think it gave us a chance to see how we can improve and make adjustments before they become big problems. Leaving SonScape, I am breathing easier, feeling calmer as we rest in God’s goodness. Sometimes we want God to change our circumstances . . . He shows us a better way!
